If you find out that you are in a floodplain, contact the Environment Agency to determine whether you can sign up to their Flood Warning scheme and start preparing!

Flood Awareness and Preparation
According to the Environment Agency approximately 9% of the five million people living in flood risk areas know how to stay safe during a flood. This shows that there is still a long way to go for us hydrologists to raise awareness of flooding. Many people don't realise that you have more chance of flooding than fire!
